Little helpers

At PKC there is always plenty of work to be done. Our older kids have certain designated days where they help out with washing the dishes or sweeping the living room after meals. Apart from, that our kids have gotten great at seeing a need out and jumping in without being asked. Even many of our kids who are non verbal are often the first ones to offer. Our house moms are also patient and will let the kids help even if they know it will make the work go slower. This also helps them to learn and practice valuable skills that we hope will help them in the future.

We are now in the harvest season for maize. So every Sunday the kids all gather round to help remove the maize from the cob so that it can be ready to cook for lunches during the week. Here are some sweet picture of everyone jumping in the help.

Lots of help is needed before mealtimes because there are so many people to cook for. Luckily, we have a lot of extra hands who are willing to help out.

Christine helping to cut the veggies.

Erika helping out too.

Obama trying to learn how to prepare the vegetables.

Arnold is non verbal and has severe Autism, but loves to observe the house moms doing things and jumps right in to help.
