Meet Emmanuel Kipsang

We’ve gotten a bit behind on our introductions of new kids at Precious Kids Center. We grew so fast and things got hectic so we have many new friends that have yet to be introduced. Stay tuned for more posts introducing all of our new precious ones.

We met Emmanuel through his older brother Dan. We had been at a wheelchair distribution and met his brother who had cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Me and Dan

We drove to visit them and found this family of five living in what used to be the kitchen of another family. Dan’s father had abandoned his family leaving their mother to fend for herself in a place where work is hard to find. Dan’s arms were stuck bent at the elbows and even his shoulder were so stiff that he couldn’t lift his arms at all. We saw how much Dan’s mom loved him and we also saw that in her situation she couldn’t give him proper care, so we brought him to live at the center. This was also the first day that we met Emmanuel.

Dan made some improvements, but then after a year he kept having health complications.During the time when Dan was sick, we kept in close contact with his mother to keep her updated on what was going on. She came and stayed with him in the hospital for a few days and over Christmas time came with her other two young children to stay for a week. During that time she talked to me about her struggles to provide for her family and asked if she could leave Dan’s little brother, Emmanuel, at the house for school. I was a little hesitant because I thought that because he was only 3 years old that he might have a hard time not being around his mother. He proved me wrong and made a quick adjustment and asked me if he could stay for good, which made it obvious that there are real struggles at home.

Dan’s health continued to worsen and he passed away in August 2017. He was well loved by his mother, brother and the rest of our Precious Kids Center family and he is greatly missed.

Emmanuel still stays with us and he is doing well in school and we are happy have him at the center.
