Meet Our Newcomers

We’ve gotten a bit behind on our introductions of new kids at Precious Kids Center. We have grown so quickly, so we have many new friends that have yet to be introduced. Stay tuned for more posts introducing all of our new precious ones.

The kids at Precious Kids Center come to us with a variety of medical complications, so its not surprising that a lot of them end up admitted to the hospital frequently. Since we are there so often, we have developed a good relationship with the staff at the hospital and they are happy to work together with us to ensure that our kids get the best care possible.

Many times, while children at our home are admitted the staff of the hospital will refer cases to us of children who are abandoned in the pediatric ward or children who are frequently admitted due to neglect or inability of their families to afford the diet and medications they need to stay healthy.  Many of these children are not disabled, but other homes won’t admit children with complex medical issues so the staff often turns to us to help these kids. . Many of these children were in the hospital multiple times a month and after coming to us and working with doctors to stay on top of their medication and nutritional needs, they haven’t been admitted in over a year. We have seen God working in their lives and can’t wait to see what they grow to achieve as their health continues to improve.

Eunice, Abi and Teresia.
These sweet sisters come from a family of seven children and the three of them all have sickle cell anemia. The medication is expensive and their family was not able to afford the medication they needed. Eunice had gone without medication for so long that it caused severe damage to her heart and liver that we are trying to manage in the best way we can. These girls are thriving and are now healthy enough to be able to attend school and get an education.
Benard and Silas
These sweet friends were constantly in and out of the hospital and because friends before moving to Precious Kids Center. They both have sickle cell anemia. Benard was living with his grandmother and was constantly being brought to the hospital because his grandmother did not follow the instructions of the doctors and had seemed to have given up hope of him getting better. Silas was in the same boat where his family was trying to care for him, but it was hard without the resources and support they needed to handle his medical issues. Silas has congestive heart failure and we were told that the prognosis was not good. However we see him constantly beating the odds and making improvements that many of the doctors thought were impossible. We are lucky to have these boys as a part of the family.
Hillary was abandoned at the hospital by his grandmother in October 2019 and stayed there for three months. He has diabetes and his biggest need is that he follow a strict diet and not skip any meals, which was difficult for his grandmother to do on her own. He is a bright boy who is very responsible and we are glad that he now has the opportunity to attend school.
