Therapy plays a big role in helping the kids at Precious Kids Center make improvements. Many of the children should have started undergoing therapy when they were very young, but for most of them because of the situation at home were not able to attend. We have a full time occupational therapist that comes five times a week to work with the kids. She does various stretches to help with range of motion as well as giving them different tasks to improve their fine motor skills.
The therapist had asked for a few items for the kids that would help them improve their fine motor skills. Things like blocks, sorting toys and other games to give the kids more motivation to practice these movements that are more difficult for them. Many of these items are a little hard to come by here, so I made a wish list of things that would be a great help for our therapy room.
In August, we had a team visit us from the Mighty Acorn Foundation. They came with their visitors and some of the children from their home to serve, play and love on the kids at PKC. One of the team members contacted me a few weeks later and asked me to send them a list of things to help with physical therapy. I was expecting a few of the items, but they bought every single item on the list!
We are blessed and grateful for their generous gifts and the kids are now excited for therapy days. Here are some photos of the kids working on their various therapy goals with all of our new equipment.
Susie had the most on on the day we unpacked everything. She wanted to see all the new toys and be the first to try them all out.
The smiles on their faces say it all. We are beyond grateful for people who see a need and jump right in to meet it.
The Suzie pictures are killing me. She’s the greatest. I CAN’T WAIT to see you all again so soon!
